On Monday 28th August, I packed my camera bag with both cameras and the long lenses and headed to the Victoria Ground in Bromsgrove for a football game.
For the first time in over 7 years I was photographing a football game. I was a bit confused seeing a round ball instead of the usual oval ball that I mainly follow as a sport, but I wasn’t going to complain as I was there to take photographs of the game itself. This game came through on my Twitter account, after being unsuccessful obtaining my media pass for the British Basketball League I turned my attention to my local football team, Worcester City FC. The game kicked off and I was all set up behind the Stourport goal so I could capture the attacking play from Worcester. Within minutes my stool I was using had sunk into the ground and slowly I was finding myself at an angle and ready to hit the floor. I gave up on the stool and sat straight on the muddy ground (the poor jeans). A great opening score from Worcester was followed by a half time whistle leveller from Stourport. In the second half, it became a lot more physical as Stourport saw red and their teammate walked the long walk into the changing room alone. A few minutes later Worcester capitalised on the extra man advantage and found the net to regain their lead. Substitutions came thick and fast to regain the momentum and within 15 seconds after coming onto the field a flying tackle saw the second red card of the afternoon for Stourport. 3 minutes before time, Worcester found the net again for a final score of 3 - 1. It was brilliant being pitch side covering a great game of attacking football. Putting the cameras to the test and capturing some great images. Here’s to the next home game for Worcester City FC where I will be capturing more photographs to support their social media accounts.
